Our Team

David Tewasart, Owner & Finance

David Tewasart is an L.A.-born son of immigrants from Thailand. In 2013, his passion for bringing Thai cooking back to its roots in Bangkok and Chiang Mai caught the attention of Grand Central Market. The owners recruited David to open a Thai street food stall there and, through Sticky Rice, he brought international attention to the market and was a driving force in its renaissance.

In 2017, he partnered with Bryan Sharafkhah. Together they expanded the brand to additional locations in Echo Park, Highland Park, and most recently Sticky Rice on W. 3rd st.

David’s latest project is Miya, an intimate restaurant focused on traditional Thai cuisine, located in Altadena.

Bryan Sharafkhah, Owner & Operations

Inspired by a long stint in Thailand, Bryan Sharafkhah’s culinary career began with a humble bicycle cart that he wheeled around Los Angeles cooking up fresh pad Thai for late night revelers. Propelled by word of mouth, the modest business quickly grew into a festival staple at everything from Coachella in Southern California to Ultra in Miami.

In 2017 Bryan partnered with David Tewasart of Sticky Rice GCM to open Sticky Rice Echo Park, which has since expanded to include the hidden cocktail bar Spirit House. In 2021 Bryan led the expansion of Sticky Rice, designing and opening the newest location on the up and coming York Blvd in Highland Park. Through all of his projects Bryan takes a hands on approach in design and construction, aiming to impart into each new space the feeling inspired by his travels.

Bryan’s latest project is Sticky Rice on W. 3rd. spearheading the project, designing the space, and overseeing it through completion.
